More details have emerged surrounding the arrest of DaBaby.
Yesterday (Jan. 2), we reported that DaBaby was seen being placed into a police car while in handcuffs. TMZ reports that he has been arrested for battery in connection to a robbery investigation.
According to TMZ, “DaBaby allegedly robbed the victim of $80, a credit card, and then doused him with apple juice … according to the police report, obtained by TMZ. The rapper also allegedly took the victim’s iPhone 7. As we reported, the dispute occurred after DaBaby felt the victim — a concert promoter — had shorted him.
According to the police report, the promoter handed DaBaby $20k but DaBaby said he was owed $30k for a concert he was supposed to perform on Thursday. According to the police report, a second victim was punched in the face.” DaBaby’s bond has been set at $1,500.
Just a few days ago, DaBaby had a run in with law enforcement in Charlotte. After performing in his hometown at the Bojangles Arena on Monday (Dec. 23) night, DaBaby says he was the victim of an unlawful search and detainment by local police.
The Charlotte rapper blasted the police department on his social media. “Dirty ass police department try to take me to jail every time I got a show in the city,” he said on his Instagram story. DaBaby’s crew caught the cops on camera, as they searched his parked car with flashlights. He was placed in handcuffs and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.
Days later, the Charlotte Police Department issued a statement saying that they would be launching an internal investigation to determine if the officers followed department policies during the incident.
After his release, DaBaby says that he would be taking legal action against the police department.
