Video has surfaced of DaBaby being placed into a police car while in handcuffs.
The “Suge” rapper had been in Miami for a few days with friends following his New Year’s Eve appearance at a local club. There’s no word on what he is being charged with or what incident even caused him to be placed in handcuffs.
Just a few days ago, DaBaby had a run in with law enforcement in Charlotte. After performing in his hometown at the Bojangles Arena on Monday (Dec. 23) night, DaBaby says he was the victim of an unlawful search and detainment by local police.
The Charlotte rapper blasted the police department on his social media. “Dirty ass police department try to take me to jail every time I got a show in the city,” he said on his Instagram story. DaBaby’s crew caught the cops on camera, as they searched his parked car with flashlights. He was placed in handcuffs and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.
Days later, the Charlotte Police Department issued a statement saying that they would be launching an internal investigation to determine if the officers followed department policies during the incident.
On their official Twitter account, the CMPD tweeted, “At approximately 8:50 pm a white Dodge charger arrived at the Bojangles Arena. The vehicle was occupied by a driver and Kirk (DaBaby) was in the rear driver’s side of the vehicle. He entered the arena and while officers were outside providing security, they stated they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officers approached the white Dodge charger while utilizing their flashlights.”
They continued, “Based on the probable cause of the marijuana in plain view officers stated they observed, they determined that they would speak with Kirk at the conclusion of the concert. Officers stated they attempted to initiate a voluntary contact with Kirk. Officers stated that Kirk walked away from them and he refused to speak with officers. Officers stated they detained Kirk in handcuffs and indicated that they legally searched the vehicle.”
