Both Joyner Lucas and J. Cole have been on a role this year. Thus far, Lucas has delivered the well-received cuts “Ramen & OJ” with Lil Baby and “Dreams Unfold” with Lil Tjay, as well as an unrivaled freestyle over the instrumental for Pooh Shiesty and Lil Durk’s “Back In Blood.” He also more recently contributed to the soundtrack for Space Jam: A New Legacy with the inspirational “Shoot My Shot.” Meanwhile, last May saw J. Cole liberate his sixth studio LP The Off-Season, a 12-track body of work with additional features from the likes of 6LACK, Bas, Morray, and 21 Savage — the last two of whom will officially be supporting the North Carolinian star on tour this weekend. The Off-Season ended up becoming Cole’s sixth number one on the Billboard 200 thanks to 282,000 first-week album equivalent units.
Today (Sept. 24), Lucas and Cole come together for the Hagan, LC, and Palaze-produced “Your Heart,” which sees the two talents lamenting over relationships and heartbreak:
“I broke your heart, huh? You knew I was a fuck-nigga from the start, huh? You should’ve listened when they said I was a dawg, huh, you should’ve listened to your head when you had thoughts, huh, that’s what you thought, huh, I left you scarred, yeah, You never be the same again, put that on God, huh, I took your heart and then I tore that shit apart, huh…”
Last October, Lucas released his latest project Evolution, which saw 13 tracks with additional features from The Game, Iyla, Ashanti, Rick Ross, and Elijah James. The project also boasted the singles “Fall Slowly,” “Snitch,” “Like A River,” “Zim Zimma,” and “Legend.” Hopefully, the Massachusetts emcee will soon be blessing us all with an official follow-up before year’s end.
In the meantime, check out the visual for Joyner Lucas’ and J. Cole’s “Your Heart.”
