We are officially past the one-year mark for Burna Boy’s fifth studio LP Twice as Tall, a well-received body of work that contained 15 tracks with additional features from Youssou N’Dour, Naughty by Nature, Sauti Sol, Chris Martin, and Stormzy. The project landed on charts around the world upon its release, and even topped Billboard’s World Albums chart in the process. Twice as Tall also won Burna Boy his first Grammy for Best Global Music Album.
Since then, the Nigerian star has made spotlight-stealing appearances on albums like Wizkid’s Made In Lagos, Sia’s Music – Songs from and Inspired by the Motion Picture, and Justin Bieber’s Justice. Back in April, he also delivered the infectious new single “Kilometre,” bringing some hope that a new album is in the works. Today (August 24), Burna Boy adds to the speculation with “Question,” a beautifully-produced collaboration with world-renowned talent Don Jazzy. The song sees Burna delivering inspirational and celebratory subject matter in perfect harmony with the instrumentation:
“If they like wey dey chop I be tomato, them no go ketchup, oya kuro nbe na, waso o n play be e mo, if they do you one kind, maybe fun e one time omo to ma mess up, anything you wish me that be your portion, bad man no dey work o, man no be God o, make dem dey talk am, as you dey fly like helicopter, aa by the grace of God and insha Allah we dey move ah…”
The accompanying clip for “Question” comes courtesy of TG Omori and shows Burna Boy as the hometown hero he is, bringing smiles to the faces of the many children that embrace him — Don Jazzy also appears throughout in humorous fashion. There’s also an apparent side plot to kill Burna Boy — fortunately, his enemies fail in their attempts.
