Canadian R&B duo DVSN has been applying some heavy pressure within the music realm over the last 5 years or so. Carving out their own lane with their artistry, singer Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85 have made a name for themselves — not to mention they make Drake’s OVO Sound label even more polished.
On the other hand, Ty Dolla $ign hasn’t slowed up a bit with the quality. Everyone should know by now that he kills any record he’s featured on (hell, he even has an album titled Featuring Ty Dolla $ign so that explains a lot) and he’s more than capable of bringing you some hit records. When you mix DVSN and Ty Dolla $ign together, you get nothing short of an audible treat. Today (Aug 20), the OVO Sound duo and the Taylor Gang crooner join forces for their joint mixtape Cheers to the Best Memories.
Fans across the globe already knew what time it was when DVSN took to social media for the subtle mixtape announcement: “Help us pick a name for this tape so we can drop it”. Sure enough, within just minutes of the post, the comment section was flooded with various titles and forms of excitement. Ahead of this release, DVSN and Ty Dolla $ign dropped off one of their lead singles “Memories.” The single remixes a sample of Silk’s 1992 classic, “Freak Me,” with love-on-the-brain lyrics. Arriving just one month after DVSN and Ty Dolla’s “I Believed It,” which features a posthumous verse from the late Mac Miller, “Memories” serves as the mixtape’s introduction.
Cheers to the Best Memories, which marks Ty Dolla’s first full-length project since 2020’s Featuring Ty Dolla Sign and DVSN’s follow-up to Amusing Her Feelings (2021), includes 11 records. Along with Mac Miller’s posthumous appearance, YG and Rauw Alejandro also feature on the tape. Check it out!
