Silk Sonic has finally blessed fans with another taste of the forthcoming album. On Wednesday (July 28), Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars took to their individual social media accounts to post a flyer announcing the release of some more music. While their captions didn’t give any more hints at all, the promotional posts themselves feature a red-colored classic car parked on a street with the overall vibe of the photo giving off a relaxed, tropical feel.
Silk Sonic now returns today (July 30) to welcome us to their Summertime Jam with a freshly released single “Skate.” The new track arrives with an upbeat music video and also follows their highly successful “Leave The Door Open” release, which has been blaring through everyone’s speakers since March of this year.
The song dropped a week after Mars and .Paak shocked the music world when they surprised-announced their new band. “Leave The Door Open” was well-received, easily peaking as the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. It was recently featured on Barack Obama’s summer playlist and has since been certified platinum. The also came together to perform the record at the 2021 Grammys as well as the BET Awards.
Bruno Mars’ last full-length body of work was 2016’s 24K Magic, and although it’s been a few years, the immense success of the project has carried him through to this day. At the 2018 Grammy Awards, Mars won in the six categories for which he was nominated: Album of the Year and Best R&B Album for 24K Magic and Record of the Year. Anderson .Paak, on the other hand, had an active 2020. He shared cuts like “Lockdown” with Jay Rock, “Cut Em In” with Rick Ross, and “Yuuuu” with Busta Rhymes. “JEWELZ” is his most recent offering, which sees production from The Breed, Shucati, and legendary producer Timbaland.
Although fans love “Leave The Door Open,” its obvious they were eager to hear a new single from the project finally. Be sure to press play on Silk Sonic’s brand new track “Skate.”
