J.I The Prince of NY is back with his latest single “No Hook.” The track, produced by Docondabeat, Byrd, and ProdByQue, brings fans back to the earlier days of J.I’s career when he started by freestyling. On the new track, J.I. showcases through his bars the transition as an artist and different points in his life realizing he’s at a completely different level now:
Gotta send half in advance if you tryna book me, please, don’t stand too close (Boo)/ Just hopped out a brand new Ghost, chrome on the sleeves, I rock it to cover my heart/ Ice blue, my shit cold
Pull up to the hood just to hear I’m too famous, expressions on they face reveal the hatred/ And y’all not allowed in the section, they only give special treatments to the gangsters/ These withdrawals got me anxious, we could brawl if you dangerous/ Killin’ off who he hang with
“This freestyle was intended to be literally straight bars with no hook, so it’s why I named it “No Hook,” shares J.I. via press release. “I had to take it back a bit to where it all started for me, which was freestyling, and to give my fans the energy of what’s to come with more new music.”
Prior to the official release of his most recent project Hood Life Krisis Vol. 3, he preceded the drop with singles like “Excuse My Pain” and “Letter 2 U,” as well as visuals for “20k” and “Love In The Club.” The latter two songs appear on his EP Welcome To GStarr Vol. 1, released this past July via G*Starr Ent./Geffen Records and includes features from Myke Towers and Lil Durk.
Most notably back in 2019, he shared his EP Hood Life Krisis Vol. 1 which includes his summer breakout single “Need Me.” The 7-track featureless project catapulted the young star onto the radars of many, allowing him to ink a deal with Interscope Records.
Be sure to tune into J.I.’s brand new single “No Hook.”
