At the tail-end of 2020, J.I. The Prince of N.Y. treated fans to a brand new EP. His recently released Hood Life Krisis Vol 3 contains seven tracks, an assist from A. Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and is the third installment of his well-loved series. He just hit longtime supporters with a bit of a pleasant curveball this week, as he reaches back into the vault and delivers a new visual for one of his older tracks “Used To.” On the song, J.I. reflects on some regrets:
I went out my way so many times, you ain’t deserve it/ You went out your way to cross the line like I deserved it, they was throwing shade, we made it hot, and now they nervous/ N***as move like snakes ‘til they come across a serpent
All this weight on my shoulders got me movin’ like a hunchback/ Hit him with this trey, he ain’t finna get his lunch back, n***a, we don’t play, jackin’ static, you don’t want that/ (Fuck around and put you in a grave, little n***a, you don’t want that)I don’t wanna fight with you, I wanna make it right with you
Prior to the official release, Hood Life Krisis Vol. 3 was preceded by singles like “Excuse My Pain” and “Letter 2 U,” as well as visuals for “20k” and “Love In The Club.” The latter two songs appear on his EP Welcome To GStarr Vol. 1, released this past July via G*Starr Ent./Geffen Records and includes features from Myke Towers and Lil Durk.
Most notably back in 2019, he shared his EP Hood Life Krisis Vol. 1 which includes his summer breakout single “Need Me.” The 7-track featureless project catapulted the young star onto the radars of many, allowing him to ink a deal with Interscope Records.
