Vado just tapped two fellow New York rappers for his latest release “Checkmate,” which came paired with a plot-driven new video. On the track, Dave East and Jim Jones swoop in for the assist, after Vado starts off the song with his verse about hustling through his day:

“Every morning on the road, EZ Pass for the tolls. Cash advances gon’ go, keep the dancin’ on hold. Hold up, let’s go get this bread first. I woo walk, show the leg work. Showin’ off ‘till my leg hurt. Out in BK with the hittas, we ain’t no scammers we killers. B**ches they like it, we make ‘em go swipe it, they post on the gram for their n***as. Like “thanks bae, you amazin’.”

Vado delivered the well-received mixtapes V-Day 3, Crime Square, and Long Run Vol. 1 in March, June, and October of last year, respectively. Prior to that, he’s made a name for himself with his Slime Flu, Sinatra, and Boss Of All Bosses series — the last of which was created alongside past collaborator and fellow Harlem native Cam’ron. Now, it looks like Vado’s been feeding his fans via the independent route.

Dave East dropped off the deluxe version of Karma 3, which sees eight additional cuts and new assists from DeJ Loaf, Meluchis, Chris Brown, Junior Reid, Jeezy, and G Herbo. The video for “Envy” off the project just dropped last month. He has also been contributing to his peer’s own drops, including J Stone’s “All Or Nothin,” MC Eiht’s “Courted In,” and Vado’s “Politics.”

Back in 2019, Jim Jones liberated his seventh studio LP El Capo, a critically acclaimed effort that saw 16 tracks and additional appearances from Trav, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Maino, Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine, the late Fred The Godson, fellow Dipset member Cam’ron, and more. The year prior, he both released the album Wasted Talent and reunited with The Diplomats for their third body of work Diplomatic Ties.
