J.I. The Prince of N.Y. is steadily gearing up to release his newest project Hood Life Krisis Vol. 3. To hold fans over, he recently shared a brand new cut “Excuse My Pain,” which arrived accompanied by a visual as well. In the Scarface inspired video directed by Kid Art, the imagery displays heavy influence from the 1983 cult classic film as he raps about his pain:

My heart so cold, I got frostbite inside my veins. I can’t see no evil, I put tints inside my frames. I’m in a world so cold, please excuse me for this pain. When we was kids, I’m the one your mother told you not to play with. She was scared for your lifе, never thought one day I’d takе it. I know it’s a cold world but I’m a colder n***a. Had too much conversations with the devil on my shoulder, n***a. This little body of mine never had a soul in it.

Prior to “Excuse My Pain” was his recent single “Letter 2 U,” as well as visuals for “20k” and “Love In The Club.” The latter two songs appear on his EP Welcome To GStarr Vol. 1, released this past July via G*Starr Ent./Geffen Records and includes features from Myke Towers and Lil Durk. Around this time last year, he shared his EP Hood Life Krisis Vol. 1 which includes his summer breakout single “Need Me.” The 7-track featureless project catapulted the young star onto the radars of many, allowing him to ink a deal with Interscope Records.

In his new cover story for KAZI Magazine, J.I. spoke about controlling initial impatience and setting his own pace for himself:

“I dropped so many songs and, based off how they started, I’d be upset they weren’t taken off the way I wanted them to. Then a year later, 20 million views later, it did what it needed to do. I still struggle with it because there are so many artists coming out, but I’m different. So, there’s a way to tune that impatience out, and that’s by working and not focusing on what the next man is doing.”
