It’s amazing how Snoop Dogg continues to deliver high quality tunes 30 years after his initial debut. This week, the California legend drops off a new video for his latest single “CEO,” a Rick Rock-produced effort that reminds listeners just how long he’s been running the game:
“I’m back like I never left, in this muthafucka spitting rhymes ‘til my last breath, Snoop Dogg in the building, yes, y’all, line ‘em up, barber shop, fade em all, watching the game from the halls of fame, I’m balling, mayne, I boss up back in this thang, believe me, bro, you wanna stick around and see the show, see me go, Snoop Dogg CEO…/”
The accompanying clip is a lesson in Snoop’s past and present, which clips of the hip hop veteran living life in the hills, showing off cars and memorabilia, and promoting a few of his many business ventures — including a gin liquor titled Indoggo. Viewers can also see Snoop with Rick Rock in his recording studio during the creation of the track, while the likes of Too $hort and Xzibit make cameo visits throughout.
Snoop Dogg’s latest studio LP — I Wanna Thank Me, his seventeenth — was released in 2019 and boasted a slew of appearances from Slick Rick, Swizz Beatz, Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown, YG, Mustard, Jermaine Dupri, Trey Songz, the late Nate Dogg, and more over a whopping 22 cuts. This year, he’s said to be putting the finishing touches on that album’s follow-up, which is reportedly titled Take It From a G. Thanks to an image he revealed on social media, fans are also anticipating what’s presumed to be a live event debuting Snoop, $hort, Ice Cube, and E-40 as the supergroup Mt. Westmore.
