Snoop Dogg is not a fan of President Donald Trump, but that’s not stopping him from trying to convince the POTUS to grant a pardon to one of his closest friends.

According to a report from The Daily Beast published on Monday (Jan. 18), the Doggfather teamed up with two activists to lobby for the president to grant clemency to Death Row Records co-founder Michael “Harry-O” Harris. In the final days of 45’s presidency, Snoop brought the case to former producer Weldon Angelos, who was pardoned by Trump last month. Angelos then recruited criminal justice reform activist Alice Johnson to help bring Harris’ case to the White House.

“The president knows how much this case means to me… In reviewing Michael Harris’ case, his story, and what he’s gone through, this is such an unfair case… He should have been home a decade ago,” Johnson told The Daily Beast. “I really felt for this man. I am very hopeful that he will be home before the end of the Trump administration.”

The 58-year-old co-founder of Death Row Records was convicted of attempted murder and kidnapping back in 1988. He’s currently being held at the Federal Correctional Institution Lompoc in Lompoc, Calif., and isn’t expected to be released until 2028. Harris previously filed for a compassionate release after he contracted the coronavirus while living with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, which attacks nerves and weakens the immune system.

Not long after the request was turned down, Johnson, whose life sentence was commuted by Trump nearly two and a half years ago, was able to use her connections to the Trump family to make a case for Harris. She spoke to key figures in Trump’s circle like his daughter Ivanka, her husband Jared Kushner, and White House Cheif of Staff Mark Meadows. She says all of them gave her hope that the president would review the request.

According to Johnson, Snoop himself describes Harris as “a pillar of the community” who’s needed to help lead the next generation. Johnson brought the case to the White House two weeks ago. Hopefully, Harry-O will get the pardon he’s been anticipating for years.
