YoungBoy Never Broke Again continues to show raw emotion on wax — a quality that’s help to make him one of the most popular rappers in his generation. His latest drop is the Veno the Builder and Cub$kout-produced “I Ain’t Scared,” which sees him rapping about how crazy his life has been since his teenage years:
“Think what you want I don’t even gotta say that I’m a real nigga, since sixteen, I been knocking shit off and you talk ’bout deal with ‘em/
I can’t live my life a certain way, no, drive that Rolls all out at night, if a shootout gon’ go down in this bitch, can’t say it won’t, ‘cause my life is crazy, left my old girl ‘cause she play me/”
The track sees an accompanying visual courtesy of Trilla Visuals, which places YoungBoy in Salt Lake City, Utah. While there, he can be seen smoking, showing off his money, taking a walk through the woods, and recording in-studio.
Last year saw YoungBoy living pretty comfortably on the charts, thanks to full-length mixtapes like Until I Return, Still Flexin, Still Steppin, and 38 Baby 2, the last of which landed him at the top of the Billboard 200 thanks to 67,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. September saw the release of YoungBoy’s sophomore LP Top, which saw 21 cuts and a couple of assists from Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg. Top took the number spot on the aforementioned chart as well, selling a healthy 126,000 units and further confirming how big of a draw the Baton Rouge star has become.
