Fifteen years ago, the legendary Ne-Yo made his mark on the R&B and pop scene when he unleashed his In My Own Words album, a project that is now considered a classic across the board. The album boasts his breakout single “So Sick,” and to this day, the iconic lyrics still tug on listeners nostalgic emotions:

Gotta change my answering machine, now that I’m alone/ ‘Cause right now it says that we, can’t come to the phone/ And I know it makes no sense, ‘cause you walked out the door/ But it’s the only way I hear your voice anymore/ It’s ridiculous, it’s been months, and for some reason I just/ Can’t get over us, and I’m stronger than this, yeah (Enough is enough)/ No more walkin’ ‘round with my head down. I’m so over being blue, crying over you.

The deluxe edition of the album includes several additional bonus tracks, including previously retail exclusive track “Girlfriend,” “Stay (Remix)” featuring Rick Ross (which was released on the Japanese version of In My Own Words), two live acoustic performances of the hit singles “So Sick” and “Sexy Love” (with accompanying videos, filmed live from The Compound in Atlanta), and two instrumentals (“So Sick” and “When You’re Mad”). In addition to the album, Ne-Yo will also release a documentary chronicling his life over the past 15 years since In My Own Words thrust him into the spotlight.

Most recently, Ne-Yo shared his “U 2 Luv” single and then circled back to drop its remix with Lil Durk and Queen Naija shortly after. He released his last body of work back in 2019 when he spread some early holiday cheer with his Another Kind of Christmas album. Prior to that was Good Man in 2018, featuring the singles “Good Man” and “Push Back.” Last year, he also released the charity single “Over Again” with Jamaican dancehall artist Charly Black.
