The UK’s very own James Vickery has tapped one of his musical idols, Musiq Soulchild, for his latest single “Come To Me.” The new track is a feel-good cut with vocals from the two R&B singers over a guitar-heavy beat. On the song, Musiq Soulchild slides in with his assist after a breezy hook:

Tearing me up, tearing me down. You make the man in me, spin right around/ My days are up without a doubt, so baby come to me, save me/ Don’t go. Walk out that front door, stay with me, don’t fold/ Want you in my lap, like some faded jeans. This ain’t another one-stop love, no/ Though we’re going in circles, circles, circles. And now I want you back (Now I want you back baby)/ When it hits midnight. Every time (Every time).

This collaboration was nothing short of a dream come true for James. “Not only is this song produced by my favourite producer in the world in pomobeats but it also combines one of my all time IDOLS,” Vickery writes. “If like me, you’re a true old-school R&B fan, you’ll understand what an immensely proud moment this is for me. I was 6 years old when Aijuswanaseing came out and I would not be the singer I am today had I not have been exposed to that album from an incredibly young age. In order to create a timeless body of work I must pay homage to the greats.”

Back in December, Musiq Soulchild released his “Nobody” single and also spread some holiday cheer by linking up with A-Lex for their song “Simplest Christmas.” In 2020, he also assisted T3 of Slum Village for the “Once Upon a Time” single and Annale for “Half Of It.” Musiq’s last full length project was 2017’s Feel The Real. Equipped with 24 total songs, the project boasted features from names like Marsha Ambrosius, Willie Hyn, BLAQxLD, Chris Theory, The Husel, and even astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.
