Back in September, Shy Glizzy unveiled the third installment of his well-received Young Jefe series, which sees 18 tracks with additional appearances from Meek Mill, Lil Uzi Vert, Jeremih, Ty Dolla $ign, G Herbo, NoCap, and more. For his latest, he drops off a new visual from the project for “Paint The Town Red,” which sees production from Larry Beats and Balik and is centered around Shy reflecting on past losses and current wins:
“Standin’ on the block, on my head, my wish was, to get rich, I got big homies, but they dead, I got long money, stack that bread, bitch we run the town, heard what I saidI’ll take down, paint it red, bad bitches on, they gimme head/
Free my rich niggas, out the feds, when he get lonely, he wanna have a good night, she say ‘Shawty, what that bag look like?,’ she like to party, but he gon’ get ‘em out right, got on my Carti’s, I’m tryna duck the limelight/”
Directed by Moshpxt, the accompanying clip begins with Shy getting picked up by homies and close collaborators 3 Glizzy and Taliban Glizzy in a Mercedes truck. Elsewhere, the D.C. star handles a deal in what looks like a nightclub and hands out punishments to those who owe him money. All-in-all, the clip sends a message to viewers that the man also known as Jefe is still very much one of the more influential artists in the game.
“Paint The Town Red” following the Valentine’s Day weekend release “White Lie,” which saw hook duties from Atlanta rising star RMR. Prior to Young Jefe 3, Shy Glizzy blessed the world with 2019’s Aloha, a short-play EP that saw five tracks, an the full-length body of work Covered In Blood, which featured the YoungBoy Never Broke Again-assisted “Bang Bang.”
