Travis Scott has officially made his return with a brand new single. According to a Genius annotation, his track “Escape Plan” was first teased by Travis in an ad for Spotify on June 24 of this year. The next day, an extended version was heard in the set at Travis’ Cactus Jack for Dior Summer 2022 fashion show. A teaser for a potential music video was previewed by Travis leading up to a live performance of the song at Rolling Loud Miami 2021. “Escape Plan” is finally available officially today (Nov. 5), and Travis did not disappoint:
Twelve figure state plan, that was the escape plan but hate investigatin’, that shit was a waistband/ But wait, I stopped the facin’ ‘cause shit just start erasin’ but wait, it opened gates and this shit just start paradin’, olé/ We out the basement, on one floor where it’s vacant
She feelin’ anxious to be out where it’s dangerous, okay/ Love all the chains and especially how I bang it, okay, Jamaica-Spanglish, she mixed up in her language, hey bae/ That wap need draining, just have it if you singing, okay/ Fuck that Birkin, she just need some еncouragement
The new single arrives just ahead of the start of Scott’s main event tomorrow. It’s been a few years since Travis Scott dropped his ASTROWORLD project in 2018, riding the success of that project for the next few years by touring and even hosting an entire Astroworld festival dedicated to the body of work. That project boasted some of his greatest hits like “SICKO MODE” featuring Drake and “BUTTERFLY EFFECT.” Prior to that was his widely successful Birds In the Trap Sing McKnight project. The release of “Escape Plan” signals the start of the journey into his next era.
