Last month, Skooly blessed his fans with his latest body of work The Boy With The Bars, which saw 15 dope cuts and no features. Following his recently released visual for “Still Sleep” comes another for “Over Again,” a laid-back effort that sees him bringing an original, harmonic flow that many who came after him have since adopted:
“I smoke a lot of weed, I bought the top floor on some rich shit, everybody know me, I was reminiscing listening to Rich Kidz, now it gets wild, let me know you how they get down, somebody tell these rappers stay away from me…/”
The visual comes courtesy of Brandon Collins and shows him and fellow artists MSA PG and Westside KJ kicking it in a residence, counting money, smoking weed, and enjoying good food among other things — essentially, the typical things a successful creative would be doing at home during the still-active quarantine.
In addition to The Boy With The Bars, 2020 also saw Skooly release the album Nobody Likes Me, which boasts 17 tracks and assists from Tay Keith, Lil Baby, Harp Szn, and The Real University (T.R.U.) head honcho 2 Chainz, who provided verses for two tracks — including the hit single “Virgil Discount.” In addition to his solo efforts, he also joined his T.R.U. cronies Sleepy Rose, Worl, Skooly, and Hott LockedN on the 2 Chainz-led project No Face No Case, which also saw collaborations alongside the likes of NLE Choppa, Quavo, and Quando Rondo.
Even with all of the music that he’s released, Skooly still found time to support the Black Lives Matter movement with his and 2 Chainz’s “Devil Just Tryna Be Seen,” along with an iPhone-filmed video courtesy of Bryan Barber that further shed light on the civil unrest that continues to take place in this country.
