Earlier this month, Skooly liberated his latest body of work The Boy With The Bars, which contained 15 new tracks from the Atlanta emcee. This week, the T.R.U. artist released a visual from the project titled “Still Sleep,” which sees him reminding listeners about why he’s a frontrunner in his city:
“Here we go again, nigga, here we go, got the game and your bitch in a figure fo’, richer than the opps and I kick the most, came in on the boat, I’m a different stroke, once I wear it, everybody put it on…/”
The accompanying clip comes courtesy of Brandon Collins and shows Skooly dressed to the nines as a chill hangout with his crew. He can also be seen getting close to — and painting — a beautiful woman, showing off his whips, and more.
In addition to The Boy With The Bars, Skooly also unveiled the album Nobody Likes Me in May, which boasts 17 tracks and additional features from Tay Keith, Lil Baby, Harp Szn, and T.R.U. head honcho 2 Chainz, the last of whom appears on the tracks “Box Chevy” and “Virgil Discount.” Prior to that, Skooly joined Chainz and his T.R.U. collective — including Sleepy Rose, Worl, and Hott LockedN — for the group album No Face No Case, which saw additional collaborations with NLE Choppa, Quavo, NoCap, Bear1boss, and Quando Rondo.
In the wake of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor’s deaths at the hands of law enforcement (along with countless others), Skooly and 2 Chainz also decided to release the June The Jenius-produced track “Devil Just Tryna Be Seen,” which came with a iPhone-filmed video courtesy of Bryan Barber and focused on the subsequent protest and riots that developed in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
