When it comes to wrestling, Wale is probably one of the biggest fans of the sport within hip hop — so much so that he even created his own event alongside World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Late last year, WWE star Big E took to the “Smackdown” squared circle to reveal that he’d teamed up with the D.C. emcee to create his new theme music, titled “Feel The Power,” which also features DJ Money and sees production from WWE’s own outlet def rebel. This week, that song has officially made it’s way to streaming, and the world can now enjoy Wale’s clever lyrics in its entirety:
“We doin’ big things, big belts, big rings, bigger than you ever seen, big as big could ever be, so big, better beg for peace, pipe down, might wanna wake the beast/
Is that my name coming out your mouth? Better watch what you say about me, and my name running through the streets…/”
“Feel The Power” follows other recent drops from Wale, including the Gunna-assisted “Flawed” and the freestyle “Lions, Bengals, and Bears.” He’s also spent the last several months contributing to dope cuts from many others, including Young Chris’ “Yellow Flag,” Adé’s “Feel Some Way,” Queen Naija’s “Butterflies Pt. 2 (Remix),” Rotimi’s “In My Bed,” Omarion’s “Mutual,” EARTHGANG’s “Options,” and — most recently — “Hurt Business” with Westside Gunn and Smoke DZA, a collaboration that’s set to appear on the forthcoming soundtrack to the Griselda film Conflicted.
In regards to wrestling-themed music, Wale has been delivering memorable drops throughout his career — songs like “Razor Freestyle (Bad Guy)” and the Smoke DZA-assisted “Absolutely Perfect” immediately come to mind.
Fans can press play on Big E, Wale, and DJ Money’s “Feel The Power” below. Those that want to hear the song in its proper element can tune into WWE’s “Smackdown” this Friday.
