Nechie’s new Shady Baby project is queued up next on YSL Records’ release roster, and he share the perfect taste of it this week to get fans prepped. The Lil Durk-assisted “Like A Dream” track sees Nechie set the tone for the body of work that is to follow:
Let ‘em have it, off in traffic, this shit get tragic. Watch me smash shit for the team. This shit colossal, that’s on my mama, see, I got commas. I been living life like a dream (Like a dream)/ Ayy, for that cream, I’m a fiend, yeah, yeah. My water clean, no chlorine, yeah, yeah. I swear to God, these n***as fraud if they ever start. Pull up, hit his heart, that’s on God.
After signing to Young Thug’s YSL Records in 2016, Nechie continued working on his own music, in addition to making appearances on several well-loved projects. He made some assists on childhood friend Gunna’s widely celebrated Drip Season mixtape series and also hopped on “Slimed In” off Slime Language. He drew the attention of major labels, eventually signing with Interscope in late 2018. Nechie made his label debut with SSN:Southside Nechie (The Full Story) released in 2019.
The timing of the track release coincides nicely with tonight’s other drop, as Lil Durk is set to release the deluxe version of his album as well. Just before Christmas, Lil Durk graced the world with his latest project The Voice, which boasts 16 cuts and additional appearances from 6LACK, Young Thug, Booka600, and King Von. The project went on to land at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 thanks to 57,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. The following month, Durk then liberated a deluxe version of Just Cause Y’all Waited 2 with seven additional cuts. That boost was able to propell the overall body of work to the No. 2 spot via an additional 43,000 album equivalent units sold.
