Back in November, 2 Chainz finally unleashed his So Help Me God album. Since then, he’s given us creative visuals for cuts like “Can’t Go For That,” “Lambo Wrist,” and now the latest addition, “Grey Area.” In the new video, 2 Chainz whips up a concoction that leaves him in an immensely tripped out state as he proceeds to hallucinate while delivering his verse:

Take my shot just like Marcus Camby, I’m so hot they fannin’. I got mills out of Def Jam, I got mills out Atlantic. N***as know, my flow like my crib, this shit full of Grammies. Strip club clothes, get her OnlyFans, lil’ bitch don’t you panic. Got a yard that’s so damn big I ordered 30 hammocks. N***as claimed they got a tool but never used the hammer. Gonna set the standard, I done repped Atlanta, slept in a cabana. Dolce & Gabbana, Louis V bandana (Do it).

Before the album dropped, 2 Chainz presented “Quarantine Thick” featuring Mulatto to get fans prepped. He also recently made an appearance alongside DaBaby on Kanye West’s remix of “Nah Nah Nah.” The Atlanta rapper released his last full length solo project Rap Or Go To The League back in 2019, which saw features from Marsha Ambrosius, Young Thug, Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Wayne, Chance The Rapper, and more. This year, he dropped off his collab project with T.R.U. titled No Face No Case in February.

In terms of this specific song, here’s what 2 Chainz himself had to say about it, courtesy of some album notes:

I went to the ‘yo and I was rocking with my man Dallas Martin and he had a young producer over there, Jay the Great. When producers play beats, they [get] three to five. I don’t like to listen to beats all day. I don’t want to hear your “experimental folder”. So I told them three to five beats, and this was the third beat and I just went straight in, and that’s what was on my mind, I guess.
