After witnessing the previous drops “IC3,” “Mozambique,” and “Proud Family,” Ghetts’ forthcoming album Conflict of Interest has quickly become one of the most highly anticipated albums of 2021. Not done with building his momentum, the East London emcee has now liberated a new cut from the project titled “Skengman,” which both features a verse from South London’s Stormzy and re-introduces fans to Ghetts’ classic Ghetto persona — a presumed reference to the album title. Produced by TenBillion Dreams, the hard-hitting track sees the collaborators reminding listeners of their street backgrounds and mentality:

“Skengman mode, gloves, mask, jet black coat, man do dirt then head back home, eye in the sky like check that drone…/

Wingman, leftback flow, wig man, head back blown, sick man, get some cold, dip man, send man home, twist and bend that bro, I was nineteen with a gun twice my age, I put man in the boot that was twice my weight/”

Directed by Nathan James Tettey, the accompanying visual for “Skengman” begins with Ghetts and Stormzy on a rooftop before the scene changes to the artists in a warehouse mobbing heavy alongside peers D Double E, Mist, Shaybo, and martial artist Michael “Venom” Page. The biggest takeaway from the clip is that all mentioned are still just as rock solid and ready for war as they were in earlier years.

Conflict of Interest will follow 2018’s Ghetto Gospel: The New Testament, a project that saw 17 tracks and additional assists from President T, Wretch 32, Donae’O, Kojey Radical, and more. Despite a slew of classic mixtapes and EPs released over the course of this century, Ghetts’ official debut album — the classic Rebel with a Cause — made landfall in 2014.
