Just before the new year arrived, Sheff G liberated a new body of work for his fans titled Proud Of Me Now, which sees 11 tracks and a single feature from frequent collaborator and labelmate Sleepy Hallow. For his latest, the Brooklyn drill star teams up with VEVO’s “CTRL” series for a live performance of the Proud Of Me Now standout “Eeny Meany Miny Moe,” a Great John-produced effort that sees Sheff G bringing his street tales and current status to life on wax:
“Ain’t never switched up on the bros, ain’t never slipped up, never told, I ain’t ever pillow talked with these hoes, ain’t never diss a opp, I ain’t score, but they see me now, screamin’, “That’s me, like, there goes Sheff G”/
N***as stealin’ flows, I’ma need it back, diss me in a song, n***as getting clapped, put that on the set, tat’ it on my neck, like, Shooter Gang got ‘em, word to your dead, you don’t want no problems…/”
Last year was a busy one for Steff G and his Winners Circle imprint — in addition to the aforementioned project Proud Of Me Now, 2020 also saw him releasing the EP Just 4 Yall and the full-length One and Only. Meanwhile, Sleepy Hallow released his 12-track offering Sleepy Hallow Presents: Sleepy For President, which — in addition to a few assists from Sheff G — saw contributions from Jay Critch, Fivio Foreign, and Fousheé. Fans also got some loose cuts and collabs from Sheff and Sleepy as well, including “Head Tap” with Pressa and “2020 Vision” with DJ Drewski.
