Back in July, August Alsina unveiled his latest single “Entanglements,” which features Rick Ross and speaks to a certain situation involving married couples and lines crossed outside of that union — something that Alsina is reportedly aware of first hand:
“I’m bein’ honest, baby, don’t want no strings attached, you just want a n***a that’s gon’ break your back, in half, no, I ain’t ‘bout to play with that, you left your man to f*** with me just to pay him back/
Don’t you know that’s cold-hearted? Once you gone, no comin’ back, girl, you’re f***in’ with a youngin’, I be doin’ s*** he lack…/”
Today, he liberated a visual for the Xeryus, The Exclusives, Cardiak, Tee Romano, and OG Parker-produced cut. Directed by Riley Robbins, both Alsina and Rozay can be seen performing the track as exotic dancers move around them. There’s also a scene with the collaborators in front fire, which perhaps symbolizes the social media chaos that preceded the creation of the track.
A mere month prior to “Entanglements,” August Alsina released his third studio album The Product III: State of Emergency, and that project contains a healthy 27 tracks with additional features from Lil Wayne, Juicy J, Yo Gotti, Tink, and more. The full-length release was led by the well-received singles “NOLA” and “Rounds.”
Rick Ross has been busy as well, especially with features — this year has seen him provide verses on Curren$y’s “Mugello Red,” Skip Marley’s “Make Me Feel,” Anderson .Paak’s “Cut Em In,” Freddie Gibbs’ “Scottie Beam,” and loads more. He also went head-to-head with the equally dope 2 Chainz during a recent episode of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s “Verzuz” series. Currently, he’s putting the finishing touches on his eleventh studio LP Richer Than I’ve Ever Been, led by the socially charged single “Pinned To The Cross” with Finn Matthews.
