After what feels like forever, we finally know that Big Sean will be releasing the long-awaited Detroit 2 next Friday (September 4). To date, we’ve already heard tracks like “Single Again”, the A$AP Ferg-assisted “Berserk,” “Overtime,” and — most recently — “Deep Reverence,” which sees a poignant verse from late rapper Nipsey Hussle. Now, Big Sean reveals a teaser visual for “Don Life,” which features Lil Wayne and sees Sean spazzing out over a sample of Michael Jackson’s 80’s hit “Human Nature”:
“No negotiation this is world domination, you can fill the trophy cases up with nominations, I’m the alpha-omega, that mean you can’t replace us, that mean I’m throwing dice in Vegas, betting all the wages/
My girl expensive, remember you get what you pay for, big, big pair of moves on and off the radar, you can’t afford to miss the layup when you win the playoffs, press on, stress, on, I give this s*** blood, flesh, bones/
Can’t catch me, I skate to my destiny, that’s necessity, you can’t out finesse me, she like chocolate nestle, brown and sexy…/”
The aforementioned teaser clip shows Big Sean in black-and-white rapping his verse in what looks like different areas around the Motor City. Unfortunately, Weezy doesn’t make an appearance in the clip, which also raises suspense for the song’s full release.
Prior to the forthcoming Detroit 2, Big Sean connected with Metro Boomin for the joint project Double Or Nothing. That same year also saw his fourth studio album I Decided., which saw 14 tracks from the G.O.O.D. Music emcee and collaborations with Jeremih, Eminem, Jhené Aiko, The-Dream, Migos, and more. In addition to his own drops, he’s also provided assists for Nas, DJ Khaled, Icewear Vezzo
Press play on “Don Life” below. Hopefully, we’ll get more information on what exists within the forthcoming body of work soon.
