Months after Hit-Boy teased the track in his Verzuz battle with fellow producer Boi-1da, Big Sean has officially dropped his single featuring the late great Nipsey Hussle titled “Deep Reverence” that will appear on the Detroit rapper’s forthcoming album, Detroit 2, which is set to be released on Sept. 4.

Neighborhood Nip opens up the song with a verse of his own, as he raps:

“Fuck rap, I’m a street legend, block love me with a deep reverence/ I was birthed in a C-section/ Helicops and police presence, we got opps so we keep weapons/We on y’all block while y’all eat breakfast…”

Sean soon jumps on the beat to deliver some heat, as well. In his bars, he revealed a number of personal things such as the fact that he lost a baby and Sean admitted that he reached out to Kendrick Lamar after Nip’s death to squash whatever petty conflict they might have had. He spit:

“After what happened to Nipsey, I reached out to Kendrick/ It wasn’t even no real issues there to begin with/ Lack of communication and wrong information… Should be a billionaire based on the time off I’m not takin’/ Probably why the shit with me get crazy and we lost a baby…”

In a recent interview with REVOLT, Hit-Boy, who produced Sean’s upcoming album, spoke about posthumously having Nipsey on the single as well as the years-long relationship they had before his life was cut short.

“It was one of those moments where, me and Sean were having this conversation and I thought about this Nip verse just because it had the energy and the realness of what we were talking about,” Hit-Boy said about playing Nip’s verse for Sean for the first time. “I played it for Sean and he was like, ‘Yo, I wanna try some shit’ and he just blacked out on it. So, it’s a real moment for the culture. Sean and Nip was already talking about doing some music together, so for it to come full-circle like this, I’m super proud of this moment.”
