Leikeli47 is back. This week, the Virginia-to-New York emcee returns with a single titled “Zoom,” which is produced Jabbar Stevens and sees Leikeli delivering hard-hitting bars that detail her upbringing and sends a message to all detractors:
“I ain’t the type of b***h to do a lotta barking, and only thing I need validated is my parking, I’m from the Backstreet Boy where it’s very rare we link, and if you sing the wrong note we’ll put your ass N SYNC/
Originally from Virginia DMV we squading, then I head up North to do my Prospect Parking, that’s a deadly combination it ain’t safe after dark, bring your drip round here, we gon’ all turn to sharks…/”
The accompanying visual shows Leikeli and a friend/possible love interest cruising on the highway in what looks like a Nintendo NES-era video game. Along the ride, she has to destroy “Feat Bot Suits,” collect gas and money, and more. At some point, she takes out a number of enemies with eye lasers before the car heads into the air for the final getaway.
The track is said to belong on Leikeli47’s forthcoming album Shape Up, which will follow her previously releases Wash & Set and Acrylic, which were released in 2017 and 2018, respectively. She’s also contributed features to songs by Baauer, Novelist, AlunaGeorge, Dreezy, LION BABE, Rapsody, and more during the same time frame.
Speaking to REVOLT, Leikeli47’s tour manager, Paul Anthony Ashby, spoke on the masked artist’s stage presence:
“People think with the mask that she doesn’t have a personality, but Leikeli has one of the biggest personalities of anyone I’ve met in life. The way she is onstage, how she dances and interacts with the crowd, is exactly who she is off the stage.”
Fans can press play on “Zoom” below. Hopefully, Shape Up will make landfall before year’s end.
