GoldLink feat. Ciscero, “Fall In Love”
Produced by Kaytranada and BADBADNOTGOOD, this track opens with the trill of a flute, your signal that you’re about to hear something that you’ve never heard before. Over a groovy beat that’s New Jack Swing-meets-two-step, GoldLink and Ciscero rap about wishing they never fell in love, but they make it sound so fun! It closes with a bass solo that just begs you to rewind.—Driadonna Roland
Bon Iver, “33 ‘GOD’”
This is so successful in getting you hyped for Bon Iver’s upcoming album. What starts as a piano melody (albeit with stuttering and robotic vocals underneath) becomes this lush, throbbing and thunderous beat 90 seconds in, full of clashing percussion, reverberating bass, synths and strings. And though that sounds raucous, it’s actually damn soulful. Plus, the poetry… “I find God and religion too / Staying at the Ace Hotel / If the calm would allow / Then I would just be floating to you now…”
Leikeli47, “Money”
New York City rapper Leikeli47 is letting everyone know that she got “Money” in her latest single. In a time period where most rappers rap about money, fast cars and etc, the mask-wearing artist delivered a bass, snare-snapping song that’s unique and so catchy. Everything from her name to her tracks are outside-the-box and although her brand image is so far out there, this song is relatable on so many levels.—Erin Ashley Simon
