Last month, Moneybagg Yo upgraded his third studio album Time Served with a deluxe edition that features seven additional tracks. Today, he liberates a visual for one of the newer cuts, titled “Cold Shoulder,” which sees Moneybagg Yo keeping it real about the ups and downs of fame and success over production from DMacTooBangin and the LoopHoles:
“Back to the basics, I can’t escape it, no, they like they understand me better when I speak it raw/
I’m thinkin’ ’bout how deep it get from diggin’ in my thoughts, but then again, I already know what come with bein’ a boss/
I’m whisperin’ in her ear, sayin’, ‘I love you, I’ma do better,’ kissin’ her lips, buy her a bag, then we f***, she like, ‘Boy, you a trip’/
‘Why you think you can fix everything with your d*** and gifts?’ Barely say no to my kids, been like that since I birthed ‘em…/”
Directed by M. Harris, the clip sees the Memphis star on what looks like his lavish residence, playing video games, enjoying pool time with his family, and hitting the golf course. It’s a true reflection of how far he’s come, given his past life in the streets.
Last month, Moneybagg Yo and the Yo Gotti-helmed Collective Music Group imprint that he’s signed to delivered a message in the wake of George Floyd’s passing:
“Racism is something we’ve personally had to deal with. From our family members, friends, and our own experiences. We at CMG send our condolences and prayers to George Floyd and his family. Though the battle with racism seems like a never ending battle, we stand up for the challenge to support our community in efforts to ending it. It’s our responsibility as a community to protect each other and also guide each other into the right decisions during a time like this.”
