Last month saw R&B sister duo Chloe x Halle return to the fold with their new single “Catch Up,” a collaboration with Swae Lee and Mike WiLL Made-It that’s said to appear on their forthcoming sophomore album Ungodly Hour. Today, they follow that with the bouncy cut “Do It,” the perfect song for a ladies night out — or ladies night in, given the current quarantine restrictions that are still in place:
“Yeah, I beat my face, moving fast cause the Uber on the way/
Taking pictures make sure you can’t see no lace, that wig secure like the money in the safe/
I look like bae, now I’m on the way, let you know when I’m ‘bout a mile away/
When I’m outside please don’t make me wait, the party’s starting when we pull up to the gate/
Girl we so late…/”
Not counting their musical contributions to “Grown-ish,” Ungodly Hour will act as Chloe x Halle’s first body of work since their 2018 debut studio album The Kids Are Alright, as well as their Sugar Symphony EP that was released later that year. They spoke to Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1 about what fans can expect on the new LP:
“My sister and I, we are such music heads of real musicality and I feel like we kind of showed that on our first album, The Kids Are Alright. And for this one, we really just wanted to show how we could pair our musicianship with a few bops and letting people enjoy themselves and have fun as well as the lyrics and the messaging of the album. We called it Ungodly Hour because it’s okay to not be perfect all the time. It’s okay to have those moments of self reflection when you just don’t feel okay.”
You can press play on “Do It” below, which also come with a grown, sexy, and energetic visual to match. Hopefully, we’ll be learning more about Ungodly Hour soon.
