This has been a week of extraordinary remixes. Following Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé’s surprising collaboration comes a new heater from Doja Cat, who delivers a remix of her Hot Pink album cut “Say So.” Now, it features assistance from Nicki Minaj, who adds to the Dr. Luke-produced cut with some additional flare:
“Every time I take a break, the game be so boring, pretty like Naomi, Cassie, plus Lauren/
Spittin’ like Weezy, Foxy, plus Lauryn, ball like the Rams, see now that’s Gordon/
They don’t understand the backtalk, I’m foreign, when they think they top the queen, they start falling/
Word to my ass shots, I’m so cheeky, got ‘em tryna palm my ass like young Keke/”
Originally, “Say So” landed in viral territory thanks to the Tik-Tok user Haley Sharpe, who created a dance to the song that many others decided to replicate. As a result, the single landed on several music charts around the globe, including a number five spot on the Billboard 100. Doja Cat’s sophomore LP, Hot Pink, has also spawned the successful cuts “Cyber Sex,” “Rules,” “Bottom B***h,” and the Tyga-assisted “Juicy.”
Her collaborator, Nicki Minaj, dropped her own single “Yikes” earlier this year, which was more than likely aimed at her ex-boyfriend Meek Mill. Prior to that, she’s provided assistance for the likes of Chris Brown, Megan Thee Stallion, Avril Lavigne, and the late Pop Smoke. In a past interview with Elle, Nicki spoke on her forthcoming fifth studio album:
It’s probably the most excited I’ve been about an album release in a really long time. I’m happy that we’re not making my fans wait for another album like I’ve done in the past. This one incorporates all the things people love about Nicki, but it also just has a way bigger sound, so it goes perfectly with the collection.
