Atlanta rapper Lil Gotit is a self proclaimed Hood Baby. Raised in the Conley Road area of southside Atlanta, his latest — which dropped arrived today (April 24) — is the sequel to 2018’s project of the same name. The album features guest appearances by Gunna, Future, and Lil Yachty. His older brother Lil Keed stopped by on a couple songs, as well.
This release follows the mixtapes Superstar Creature, which arrived in February of this year, and last year’s The Real Goat and Crazy But It’s True.
Gotit started taking rap seriously in 2016 and has since become a protégé of Young Thug. In other words, he’s one of ATL’s rising rap stars and Hood Baby 2 is here to keep his name buzzing.
Earlier this month, he released the banger “Never Legit.” The album clocks in at 19 tracks, many of which were released ahead of the full track list. Frequent collaborator Zaytoven lends his production skills, and fellow producers ThatBoyCash and Wheezy also supplied heat on the project.
Lil Gotit is able to stir multiple pots and is surly working on future projects as Hood Baby 2 drops. An earlier version of the track list had 30 plus songs, so there is definitely some music he is keeping under wraps for now. Much of his previous work, which may be new for some, would also be worth including, but track lists have their limits.
As an artist, Lil Gotit has everything like his name suggests. “I got a shopping addiction,” were his words during an interview with The Fader last year. With no shortage of drip, they dubbed him the heir to Atlanta’s rap throne.
That puts him in the conversation with Atlanta greats like his mentor Young Thug, Migos, Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Luda, and Killer Mike — great company to be in so early in one’s career. From the looks of it, Lil Gotit’s star is brighter than ever.
