Lil GotIt has been making waves for a little while now, having made a heavy impact on hip hop via his Alamo Records release Hood Baby two years ago. Since then, he’s crafted two other projects — Crazy But It’s True and The Real Goat — and made hits with some of the biggest of his generation — including Young Thug, Gunna and Lil Uzi Vert. He even received an official cosign from Drake, the culture’s current crown bearer. Now, he keeps his momentum going, linking up with top-tier producer London On Da Track for the collaborative release, Superstar Creature.
The new release boasts 12 new tracks from the Atlanta artist, which additional assistance provided by Young Nudy, Slimelife Shawty and Polo G — the latter of whom joins GotIt on “Free Melly,” a tribute to the song’s currently-incarcerated namesake:
“I got murder on my fuckin’ melon/
Young nigga ways like I’m Melly/
Pull up shootin’ out the box Chevy/
If I fuck her good, she gon’ telly-telly/
…
Hood baby, get your stain bust/
Hand on the money, got my chain bust/
Wrist flood, rain bust/
Whole YSL, they dangerous/
I’m screamin’ free Melly from London/
On the phone with London…/”
The accompanying Jake & Oliver-directed visual sees the two collaborators performing in the midst of beautiful women and neon lights. The scenery matches GotIt’s melodic, drowsy bars with vivid, constantly changing colors, creating the perfect vibe to light up to.
Lil GotIt isn’t the only one in his family crafting trap hits, either. His brother, Lil Keed, is signed to Young Thug’s YSL Records and has released the well-received album Long Live Mexico, which sees appearances from Thugger, Lil Uzi Vert, Gunna, Roddy Ricch, the aforementioned YNW Melly and more.
