Just last week, California rising favorite Blxst unleashed the deluxe version of his No Love Lost project. The new release sees six additional tracks and new features from Dom Kennedy, Ty Dolla $ign, and Bino Rideaux. He shared a new video for one of the freshly released tracks “Pressure,” where we see Blxst remind us although he’s been killing the melodic hooks and flows lately, he’s still nice at spitting straight bars too:
Ayy, I ain’t heard one bad Blxst song, ‘gevity, gon’ last long. He the new Nate Dogg, he the West back bone. I was just broke last year, now the cast gonе. Back was on ropes last year but we back on. Thought wе lost hope last year, it ain’t last long. Of course I been through hell and back, ain’t no need to mention that, ain’t no need to mention me recording with my son on lap. For all the times I couldn’t afford it, I gotta order that. Switched up my attitude and I brought it back.
The storyline-driven video reels viewers in with an opening scene of Blxst enjoying a fancy dinner with his people, later on revealing two hostages in the basement of the upscale restaurant who will soon meet their fate. The visual closes with “The End” flashing across the screen, meaning it is presumably the finale of Blxst’s video series he kicked off when the original version of No Love Lost initially dropped back in September.
There’s been many comparisons made by the public between Blxst and the legendary Nate Dogg and on the opening verse of “Pressure,” Blxst embraces these comparisons by rapping about himself “He the new Nate Dogg, he the West back bone.” In an interview from back in August, here’s what he had to say about it:
“I love it, actually. I’m a big fan of Nate Dogg and I just felt melodically, we fit in that same pocket of just being smooth and easy-going, not too aggressive on the track. We just fit perfectly with any artists, but we also have our own world we can go to.”
