L.A.’s very own BLXST has been steadily gaining traction through the West Coast and beyond with his smooth, melodic hooks, and honest lyrics. Just recently, he treated fans to a solo EP, No Love Lost, which dropped earlier this month on Sept. 4. His latest installment of a four-part video series he’s rolling out with the album arrived today, as he drops off his brand new music video for “Be Alone.”
The new release today follows the two other videos in the series: “Overrated” and “No Love Lost.” The “Be Alone” track includes an interpolation of Aaliyah’s classic hit “I Don’t Wanna” for its hook, as BLXST raps about figuring things out with his current love interest. The featureless No Love Lost EP was well-received and debuted at #14 on Billboard Heatseekers Albums Chart. BLXST has recently shared his talent on Mozzy’s singles “I Ain’t Perfect” and “Streets Ain’t Safe,” as well as Bino Rideaux’s “Brand New.”
In 2019, he released a collaboration project with Bino Rideaux titled Sixtape. BLXST initially started earning notoriety for his production work and collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, YG, Mozzy, G Perico, Eric Bellinger, Bino Rideaux and more. Today, he stands as a multi-talented artist, proving he has the skill set to tackle rapping, singing, songwriting, and production.
In a recent interview, BLXST spoke on how he purposely put out No Love Lost at this specific time, and included no features despite his countless strong relationships with artists in the industry:
“It was strategic to put out [No Love Lost] on my own time, as far as there being no features and producing the entire project myself. I left that impression. Now, I’m open to expanding the sound and working with other artists to see how far I can take it and see how creative I can get with it.”
