Lady Leshurr is bringing the year to an end with a bang. This past weekend, the Birmingham emcee dropped off the seven-track Astronaut EP, and has already liberated visuals from the project for “DIV” and its title track. For her latest, Leshurr delivers another video for the EP standout “Fake Flex,” which is produced by Dusty Goodz and sees her addressing her detractors and her own successes:
“My bars hurt and they’re killing those victims, you’ve turned into a video vixen, helped too many gyal sick of ‘em switching, making moves P Diddy I’m twitching/
Oh my days what do we have here? Them gyal there they cannot come near, Birmingham queen that’s who they all fear, they need a handout I’m like ‘ere…/”
As explained in its beginning, the self-directed clip shows Lady Leshurr celebrating her well-deserved British Empire Medal by renting out a lavish residence and living out her day as if she were Lil Wayne (who filmed a similar visual earlier this month). In one continuous shot, Leshurr can be seen making her way from the bedroom to the kitchen for breakfast, playing pool unsuccessfully, and jumping into the swimming pool with immediate regret — all making for a fun and hilarious watch for fans to enjoy.
In addition to Astronaut EP, this year also saw Lady Leshurr released the EP Quaranqueen, an obvious reference to this year’s still-active pandemic that boasted cuts like “Quarantine Speech,” “Isolation,” and “Ms Rona.” She also recently contributed to Remtrex’s Bars From the Pen 2 track “Up In Smoke.”
While she’s been killing microphones and stages for some time, her international success came thanks to her highly rated “Queen’s Speech” series — most specifically 2015’s “Queen’s Speech Ep. 4,” which eventually led to an advertisement deal with Samsung.
