A little more than a month since King Von’s tragic death, fans continue to get posthumous releases for bittersweet enjoyment. The latest is courtesy of Audiomack, who connected with the late Chicago star to deliver a freestyle for their “Bless The Booth” series, complete with a quick strike matching visual courtesy of Sage English. As with previous efforts, King Von can be seen and heard spitting some of his coldest, non-fiction bars to date over production from TGUT:
“And when we find him, we gon’ stretch him, heard he lookin’ for his match, heat a man up, let’s talk bodies, I got several, they stop me at the airport ‘cause I keep that metal/
Grandson, this that good dope, that shit’s stepped on, catch sticks, I be throwin’ bullets like I’m Brett Favre…/”
A mere week prior to his passing, King Von liberated his debut studio album Welcome To O’Block, which boasts 16 tracks and additional appearances from Lil Durk, Polo G, Dreezy, Moneybagg Yo, and Fivio Foreign. In addition to topping Billboard’s Independent Albums chart, Welcome To O’Block also landed within the top five of the Billboard 200. In addition, November saw four of Von’s past hit songs appear on the Billboard Hot 100 — “Crazy Story 2.0,” “Took Her To The O,” “All These N***as,” and “The Code.” One again, a bittersweet achievement for someone who was just beginning his career.
Lil Durk recently returned to social media to continue paying tribute to King Von, eventually releasing a visual for his latest single “Backdoor” that shows him donning an O’Block chain in honor of his fallen brother. This past weekend also saw Kansas City Chiefs receiver wide receiver Tajae Sharpe rocking cleats with King Von’s face designed by artist Joe Castro.
