Last month, 42 Dugg celebrated his 26th birthday in Miami. This week, fans get to see how said celebration went via his new visual for “Free Me,” which is produced by BeatGang and Antt Beatz and sees the Detroit rapper paying homage to loved ones behind the walls:
“My youngin’ caught a L, ‘course I’m makin’ that knife work, ‘cause ain’t no guns in that bitch, I seen a nigga get a L before he got his life, I know a nigga got a deal but then he got indicted…/”
As previously stated, 42 Dugg can be seen in Miami riding jetskis, standing on top of high end whips, and flashing a GPD monitoring device, a symbol of his apparent legal woes. Later on in the video, he goes to his own birthday party and is gifted with a magnificent watch from label boss Yo Gotti himself. Hopefully, all parties utilized protocols in regards to the current Coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier this year, 42 Dugg dropped Young & Turnt, Vol. 2, the official sequel to the 2019 breakout project Young and Turnt. The project eventually saw a deluxe upgrade, which altogether contained 23 tracks and features from DeJ Loaf, Moneybagg Yo, Lil Baby, Yo Gotti, Babyface Ray, and more.
In a past interview with Billboard, 42 Dugg spoke on his attempts at creating music behind bars:
“I was just making sure they were picking the right songs. It was hard being in there and thinking about the mixes and all that. I just had to trust [Yo Gotti] and them that they would get it right. I got out right before it came out, so I got to listen to a lot of it. I called Gotti and was like, ‘You gotta fix that.’”
