Back in September, Kamaiyah and Capolow joined forces to create an homage to their city, Oakland Nights. The joint project included features from Keek Da Sneak and also RJMrLA, who assisted on the standout track “Gang Gang.” The new LouieKnows-directed visual for “Gang Gang” sees the rappers mobbin’ with their respective crews on ATV’s while RJMrLA rides the beat:
Shit, growing up the only choice we had was bang or ball. Scale that onion to the point we had to shave it off. Pull up on em, shit they get it like a shish kabob. Shit, I can scope a bitch talent like a A&R. I’m rated R with that thang thang, I’m still married to the streets without the name change (Yeah). I bang bang with my gang gang, but it be sometimes I wish I never had to gang bang.
Earlier this year, Kamaiyah blessed her fans with her latest project Got It Made, her first independent release since her departure from Interscope. The new mixtape isn’t the first time Kamaiyah and Capolow linked up, as Got It Made features their collab song “Digits.” She’s blessed fans with a slew of visuals this year, including “Go Crazy,” “Extravagant,” and “Project Baby.”
In a previous interview, Kamaiyah spoke about her expectations for the project prior to its release, and looking back on it now, she definitely delivered:
[Oakland Nights] is a collaborative project. It’s going to be a standout moment in my career because I had fun doing it. I feel like it’s going to make a lot of sense for my culture. I will also continue to show the type of woman I am and what I’m standing for. I’m big on ownership and dependency and just women taking back what’s theirs. We are the rulers and the controllers that it’s over. We are the mothers of nature and we just got to own our power and that’s what I’m doing.
