Currently, Nas is still enjoying the critical success of his thirteenth studio album King’s Disease, a collaborative effort alongside producer Hit-Boy. Today, he decides to keep the momentum going with a new visual for “Spicy,” which features fellow New York rappers A$AP Ferg and Fivio Foreign. Despite the different in eras, the trio collaborate seamlessly with the type of subject matter only winners can understand:
“Boss s***, your Lordship, n***as talkin’ yachts since I’m on s***, I used to run the block, now I’m corporate/
Hoppin’ out, you know it’s son when the doors lift, whole squad hide the burners, Mets hats in the sky like Bobby Shmurda…/
The visual comes courtesy of Jack Begert and mainly sees the artists mobbed up with their respective crews on a bodega corner in the city. There’s also some dope-yet-creepy special effects throughout, including Fivio’s head turning into a candle and Ferg’s multiplied, scrambled face.
To some, King’s Disease is considered Nas’ return to form since 2018’s Nasir, a polarizing, seven-track offering that saw production handled by Kanye West. Nas isn’t the only one on the board this year, either — A$AP Ferg released his new project Floor Seats II this month, while Fivio Foreign joins Mulatto, Polo G, Jack Harlow, Lil Keed, NLE Choppa, and more as the latest group of XXL freshmen.
King’s Disease is also notable for reuniting The Firm (at least temporarily), with Foxy Brown, AZ, Cormega, and Dr. Dre trading verses on the track “Full Circle.” Appearing on REVOLT’s “Drink Champs,” Nas spoke on why that group was created:
“I needed my n***as… I was dolo really so I needed to squad up [because] everybody was [getting together] so it was only right. You had Junior Mafia. Even Wu-Tang, it’s a lot of them. Death Row, it’s a lot of them, you know.”
