About a week ago, Jacquees took the spotlight at a Laker game when he shared his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. The clip took social media by a storm, and the self-proclaimed King of R&B went viral once again. Little did we know, “Land of the Free” was on its way.
DJ iMarkkeyz initially posted his remix on YouTube shortly after, and that version started to do numbers. Jacquees thanked iMarkkeyz, then doubled down and surprise-dropped his official version of the remix today (Dec. 15). He also proceeded to take it up a notch by adding his friend 2 Chainz to the record before unleashing the final product to his SoundCloud. On the song, he starts off by saying he’s here to change the game before 2 Chainz slides in:
The National Anthem will never be the same… Jacquees (Yeah)
‘Quees asked me to do this so I’ma to it for him, pledge allegiance to the stars in a Rolls Royce, rose gold, push start button
In terms of recent features, Jacquees hopped on Kodi Shane’s latest single “Let’s Not Fall In Love,” Queen Naija’s “Bed Friend,” and also made an appearance on Toosii’s brand new three-track capsule Pretty Girls Love Toosii.
Last year, Jacquees blessed his fans with the mixtape Exit 68, a reference to his hometown. That project saw 16 tracks with assists from FYB and Trey Songz — the latter of whom contributed to the standout track “All On You.” His last official body of work — the aptly titled King of R&B, his second — contained 18 cuts with a slew of appearances from T.I., Tory Lanez, Quavo, Young Thug, Gunna, Summer Walker, Lil Keed, Lil Gotit, Lil Baby, and more. Future also provided vibes on the single “What They Gone Do With Me.”
