Summer Walker is working on new music for fans.
Over the weekend, Walker shared a photo of herself in the studio. Keeping her caption short, the “Over You” singer revealed that her upcoming project will make its debut sooner than later. “EP coming soon babies,” she wrote.
The upcoming project will serve as a follow-up to Walker’s debut album Over It, which was released in October 2019. As fans might recall, Walker’s LP reached platinum status in February 2020. According to Chart Data, the record moved over one million units. “@IAMSUMMERWALKER’s ‘Over It’ has now sold over 1 million units in the US,” the official statement read.
After catching wind of the exciting news, Walker shared her thoughts on Instagram. “PLATINUM,” she wrote about the London on Da Track-produced album, which featured guest appearances from Drake, Bryson Tiller, Jhené Aiko, PARTYNEXTDOOR and more. “Thanks so much guys. This is how my life goes lol every time I take a L I get a W.”
Since breaking into the music scene in 2018, Walker has spoken candidly about her struggles with social anxiety. Back in November 2019, the 24-year-old canceled her tour due to her chronic health condition. “Hey y’all as you know, I have been very open about my struggle with social anxiety,” she wrote on Twitter. “I want to continue to be healthy and to make music for y’all, so I have decided to cut down some of the dates on the tour. I’m grateful for every single one of you. I hope that you understand.”
During an interview with Billboard around the time of her album release, Walker confessed that she began making music as a creative escape. “I started singing because I wanted to figure out ways to make money in [a] comfortable and creative way,” she explained.
