R&B songstress Ari Lennox is making her acting debut in Paramount +’s revival of the popular sports-based, drama-comedy series “The Game.” The “Pressure” singer took to Twitter Saturday (Nov. 27) to make the announcement: “My acting debut … Make sure to tune into #TheGame on @paramountplus,” Lennox tweeted with a pair of teary-eyed emojis.
Within the brief one-minute clip Lennox tweeted, the Washington, D.C.-bred singer can be seen performing her latest hit “Pressure,” while actresses Adriyan Rae (who plays Brittany Pitts) and Analisa Velez (Raquel Navarro) discuss how to “make an impact” with the 30-year-old star.
The episode Lennox is featured in originally aired on Nov. 24 and is titled “White Party, White People, White Lies.” It’s the fourth of ten episodes in the season and according to the description on Paramount +, it’s about Brittany pulling a baller move at Tasha’s annual White Party, and Malik struggling on his first day of No-Nut November.
Paramount + announced in March that it had picked up “The Game” and planned to bring back some of the original cast members, including Hosea Chanchez (Malik Wright), Wendy Raquel Robinson (Tasha Mack), Brittany Daniel (Kelly Pitts) and Pooch Hall (Derwin Davis).The original executive producers: Kelsey Grammer and Salim Akil, plus showrunner Devon Greggory and the series creator Mara Brock Akil have also returned for “The Game” reboot.
“Fifteen years ago, I created ‘The Game’ and am so proud of the success we had, and that I was able to create characters and stories that resonated with so many people. I couldn’t be happier about leaving my beloved characters like Tasha Mack and Malik Wright in the hands of Devon, Wendy, and Hosea, who I know will build off of the rich foundation the show has,” Mara Akil said in a statement at the time.
