Back in May, Young M.A liberated her sophomore LP Off The Yak, which sees 11 tracks with additional features from Fivio Foreign, Rubi Rose, Max YB, and WAP5TAR. Yesterday (Nov. 17), the Brooklyn emcee decided to drop off a new visual from said release for “Friendly Reminder,” an IamTash and Jai Beats-produced effort that sees M.A keeping it real about the oft-dangerous street life and how it continues to effect her today:
“Soon as I get up out of bed, I grab my Glock, make sure it’s cocked, one in the head, I’m paranoid, wish I was not, wish it would stop, but it won’t, can’t trust a bitch and fuck an opp, that’s how I think, that’s how I move, that’s how I rock, shout out my block, man, we don’t respect you, boy, you talk to cops, I just bought a brand new Draco, thirty shots, oh, and a mop, and a helicop’, that’s a chop…”
Directed by Marc Diamond, the accompanying clip for “Friendly Reminder” is centered around shots of M.A with her crew, all while showcasing bottles of Nyak, a Black-owned cognac brand that she partnered with just prior to Off The Yak’s release. Without leaving the initial location, M.A delivers a hard-hitting performance while high-end jewelry and some heavy artillery remain within view.
Back in 2019, Young M.A liberated her official debut LP Herstory In The Making, which came with 21 songs and additional features from Max YB and Relle Bey. A year after Herstory In The Making’s release, M.A kept her momentum going with Red Flu, which more than kept her fans fed during the more serious quarantine months.
