For essentially the entire year, Russ has kept his fans fed with a steady stream of singles that’s spanned across multiple genres. Virtually every week has seen top tier drops like “When This Was All New,” “Can’t Let Go,” “ThinkTooMuch,” “When I’m With You,” “Italy,” “Fate,” “Misunderstood,” “Bankrupt,” “Small Talk,” “Status,” “3:15 (Can’t Breathe),” “Private” with Rexx Life Raj, “Money On Me,” “Lucky,” “Rather Be Myself,” “Satisfy,” “On The Way,” “Nothin’ I Won’t Do,” “Cheers,” and, most recently, the Capella Grey-assisted “Seduce” — about two full album’s worth of tunes for fans to enjoy.
Today (Nov. 11), Russ returns with a new loose cut titled “Losin Control, Vol. 2,” which acts as the sequel to the producer-artist’s There’s Really a Wolf standout “Losin Control,” which acts as an apologetic message to his ex-girlfriend. Six years later, it still sounds like Russ is struggling with a past relationship, and he’s ready to close that chapter and move on with his life:
“Can’t go back to youI know it’s sad, it’s true, can’t hold you in my arms, I’ll hold you in my heart, I’m here to let you know I need to let you go, that’s not my life no more, this isn’t right no more, no more, I knew you for a while, so it’s hard to just cut you off, but I gotta do what’s right, it ain’t fair to the girl I got…”
Russ’ last official album was 2020’s SHAKE THE SNOW GLOBE, his last big label release that contained 14 tracks with assists from Rick Ross, Kiana Ledé, Bugus, Benny The Butcher, Devin The Dude, and BIA. The project peaked within the top five of the Billboard 200 thanks to 63,000 first-week album equivalent units — following that, Russ dropped off a deluxe edition of SHAKE THE SNOW GLOBE with seven additional songs to enjoy. Later that year, Russ returned with CHOMP, which saw five songs packed with appearances from Ab-Soul, DJ Premier, Busta Rhymes, Black Thought, and more.
