Will Smith is not holding anything back in his new memoir “Will,” including how he fell in love with his Six Degrees of Separation co-star Stockard Channing — while he was married to Sheree Zampino.
According to People, the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” actor wrote about how he just welcomed his oldest son with Zampino and had to remain in character while on the set of the film, although his feelings for Channing grew. “Sheree and I were in the first few months of our marriage with a brand-new baby and for Sheree, I can imagine that this experience was unsettling to say the least,” wrote Smith.
“She’d married a guy named Will Smith and now she was living with a guy named Paul Poitier [his character’s name in the movie]. And to make matters worse, during shooting I fell in love with Stockard Channing.”
Smith added that his marriage to Zampino was off to a “rocky start,” but after filming wrapped for the movie, he found himself “desperately yearning to see and speak to Stockard.”
Ultimately, Zampino and Smith divorced in 1995. The I Am Legend actor has been married to actress Jada Pinkett Smith for 23 years and the pair share two children together. Recently, their union has come under scrutiny from the public because of their untraditional takes on marriage.
Last year, Jada’s extramarital relationship with August Alsina made headlines after the “I Luv This Shit” singer revealed that the two were involved as more than friends. During an interview with GQ, Smith later confirmed that he and his wife had an open relationship.
However, the couple’s marriage is back in the limelight after Jada revealed that maintaining a sex life with her husband was “hard.” She later clarified the statement by saying that they have never had any issues in the bedroom.
