Earlier this month, Problem dropped off his latest EP Smoke Break, which comes with four songs and brings forth much of the same vibes heard on August’s Coffee Break. We’ve already been able to enjoy videos for “Standing Ovation,” “Just Outside (Remix),” and “Lionel Richy” — this past weekend, Problem delivered his final from Smoke Break for the Audio Anthem-produced “DIM MY LIGHT,” his collaboration with Snoop Dogg that sees both keeping it real in regards to toxic “friends”:
“I wanna help, I really, really, really do, but I been watchin’ for a while and hustlin’ ain’t really you, so brodie do yourself a favor, find yourself something to do, get in the mirror with them morals, watch the glue fall off your shoe, we know you’re stuck up in your ways still, tryna play still, out here chasing ‘round them women that’s like half your age still…”
Directed by Taylor Bonin, the accompanying clip for “DIM MY LIGHT” sees Problem and his less-than-positive alter ego meeting up in his office to deliver the song’s message. We’ve seen flashes of the Compton emcee’s jumpsuit wearing counterpart throughout the entire series of videos — here, he’s mainly just drinking tequila and otherwise causing havoc in Problem’s workplace. Snoop does appear in the form of an image on a mug, as well as via FaceTime at the very end.
Both Coffee Break and Smoke Break follow the well-received Coffee & Kush, Vol. 2, which made landfall in September of last year and acted as the sequel to Coffee & Kush, Vol. 1. Originally, Vol. 2 saw 11 tracks with contributions from Tyrese, Jack Harlow, Jay Rock, Terrace Martin, Freddie Gibbs, and Snoop, among others — the Don Cannon-backed “Just Outside” has since been removed from streaming platforms (its video is thankfully still on YouTube) and replaced with its aforementioned remix, now produced by CHASETHEMONEY.
