Last month, Tems graced the world with her sophomore EP If Orange Was A Place, which contains five songs and a single feature from Brent Faiyaz for “Found.” The project was led by the Guilty Beatz-produced offering “Crazy Tings,” which sees the Nigerian talent speaking to a relationship that doesn’t serve her best interests:
“All you do is lie and lie and lie, all you do is try and try and try, you don’t even know the kind of things, but you try to tell me all these things, give me some time, I need peace, I’ma need space some days, and I’m just tryna do my things, and I’m just tryna get my bread, so you need, someone to deceive, and you’re trying to think that I’m the one for you…”
Today (Oct. 21), fans get to check out a new visual for “Crazy Tings” that comes courtesy of UAX and seems to begin with Tems in the midst of chaos — viewers can see her walking past what looks like a stressed out mother, other women with money crowding her for an unspecified reason, a man being overworked, a protest, and more. She eventually makes her way to a party to let her hair down, before heading off through an entryway of light on her own.
If Orange Was A Place follows last year’s For Broken Ears, another soulful body of work that saw seven tracks for fans to enjoy. Months later, she would land on Wizkid’s Made In Lagos hit “Essence,” a song that would subsequently earn both a top ten placement on the Billboard 200 and a Platinum certification in the United States. More recently, she could also be heard on Drake’s Certified Lover Boy standout — and top 40 success — “Fountains.”
