On the two-year anniversary of her debut album Over It, Summer Walker is dropping major hints about her next full-length project. The Soul Train Music Awards-winning songstress hit up an Atlanta Falcons game over the weekend and took along her album’s physical hard drive, which she jokingly strapped into her car’s backseat in an Instagram Story upload.
During the game, Hot New Hip Hop reports that the stadium’s Jumbotron also promoted the upcoming body of work. Now, Summer has shared a new update that might have given away the album’s release date. Late on Sunday night (Oct. 3), Summer shared pictures of two customized Atlanta Falcons jerseys: one that said her name and the number 11 and a second one reading, “Hard Drive” and “05.” Fans are now speculating that her sophomore effort could be called Hard Drive and will likely arrive on Friday, Nov. 5.
The hints coincide with the second anniversary of Summer’s debut album Over It, which was released on Oct. 4, 2019. On Friday (Oct. 1), outside of the taping of the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards, the 25-year-old also confirmed to a reporter that she will release her new album sometime next month.
“I was super excited to go to the BET Hip Hop Awards today but they wouldn’t let me in due to COVID restrictions,” she explained to a reporter. “I had such a pretty dress and everything, but it’s fine. BET love me, I still love BET. I was gonna talk about some stuff on the red carpet, so I decided to pull up anyway and let you guys know some things.”
The video interview also included a shot of a nearby building, where a message read: “Summer Walker album # 2 coming November.”
Summer is expected to share more information about her sophomore album throughout the day. See her Instagram Story upload below.
